Default Stupid Question....what scanner to buy?

I haven't got a clue. I've never done much work on computer controlled cars. I also have an 89 IROC L98. So, I guess it'* time to learn how to pull codes and so on.

Sorry for the dumb question if it'* been asked 20 times a day.

Hey thats what I'm here for. Just remember that if your obdI connection should be obdI but looks obdII that doesn't always mean that you have an obdII computer. You may have gotten their test obdII connection and still have an obdI computer. It could have gone the other way too, GM guys are weird. They sell scantools for obdII that have an obdI connection on them for this, just incase your obdII computer has an obdI connection. Its pretty easy to tell if you have obdI or obdII, but like I said will would have to answer that. Ahhh the wonders of obdI and obdII
