You just need to pop out the axle from the differential with a sharp blow on a lever placed against the inner tripot joint. Axle change procedure is described here in Techinfo. I would NOT pull on it with a chain. http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...e=article&k=83

I had that happen to me on a Riveara. Parts store sent the wrong axle. It went in just fine but would NOT come back out. I tried my 3 foot prybar, hammers, rubber mallets, my full arsenal from my tool box. NOTHING WORKED!!! I ended up taking the cv joint apart and pulled it out with a slide hammer after welding a rod to the tulip. What a bunch of BS that was. I lit right into those a-holes at the parts store for that. You have to be carefull pulling on the axle though. You can pull the cv joint right apart if your not careful.

There is a circlip on the end of the new axle that your OEM axle didn't have. It'll take a POP to get it to come out of the differential.
