Can we split this thread into the Performance and Brainstorming section for the Knock related issue? I think that'* more important to me than a potential exhaust leak.

So I've decided I need a tune, plain and simple. I've definitely altered the VE of this engine, I need to recalibrate the MAF, fix the spark tables, and tune for new injectors.

Why new injectors? At 5200 RPM on the 1-2 shift point, my injector duty cycle is at 93%. I'm being told I don't want to go past 80%, so L67 injectors it is. Who would have thought my L36 injectors wouldn't be enough.

Not sure what this means to anyone, but my MAF reading at that point is 141 grams per second.

Do you know off hand the output of L36 injectors? Never mind, looks like 22 LBS. So ya, L67 will give you about 10 more pounds of fuel.

Sounds like your going to need a lot of tuning. New injector tables, new MAF curve, both easy to do. New VE tables, takes time but not hard. Adjust the MAF curve, gain, time consuming. Timing tables, not to hard to deal with. PE table, a bit involved. You will have a full day, and a full tank of gas, for a little while.

Yeah, especially since I can't tune right from the ALDL cable and I have to burn each chip.

Can you confirm the weight of L36 and L67 injectors? For some reason I thought the L67 injectors were 36.5lb/hr and the L27/L36 injectors were 19.5 lb/hr. At least the latter is what they're listed at in the BIN my buddy is looking at.

The injector flow is dependent on fuel pressure. From what I can see, L36 are 22 pound injectors, and L67 are 32 pound injectors at 45psi. I might be off a bit, I just did a real quick check on that.

Sounds good. So in that case, how do I figure out what my fuel pressure is?

You would need to put a fuel pressure gauge on for that.

Any idea why a Bin file for my PCM might show 19lb injectors if the car came with 22lb injectors? As far as I could tell, the 95 L27 injectors are identical to L36 injectors.

Can you see what the fuel pressure is listed at? The info I have is 48-55 psi with a flow of 22 pounds. If you car is set for 40psi, that would bring the flow rate down.

The manual for a 95 Regal says 42-47 psi, so it makes sense now why they would be listed lower in the PCM.
