Default Oil Pressure Sensor Failure

I've been noticing that my Bonne'* oil pressure is waaaay too high during the first 5 minutes. Yes, I said high. I don't know what'* causing this, and I really don't want to worry about it unless it'* bad for the engine. So, is driving with an oil pressure of around 100-125 bad for the engine? If so, what do I need to fix?

Oil Pressure Sensor may be in the early stages failing. I would think that 100-125 psi is not an accurate indication.

Wonderful, I really don't want to buy something soon. At least the engine isn't being harmed. Does the sensor effect the computer or will it still work?

If the pressure switch shorts out it could blow the fuel pump fuse & leave you stranded. I'd change it ASAP.

Ted is right on the money. My Oil Pressure is starting to do the same thing on the Zilla. I know it'* the sender. But as Ted pointed out, the fuel delivery depends on the oil pressure. This was done to protect the engine. If the oil pressure drops (due to a bad sender or some mechanical failure), it will cut off the fuel to protect the motor.

Don't ignore it.

oil pressure sender is easy to get at. Remove the passenger front tire, remove the splash guard. On the back of the motor, threaded into the oil filter adapter is the sender. Look for the filter..and look up on the bracket it'* attached to.

Now..if you are asking about the fuel pump.. in the tank of course..lol

Sorry to bring this topic up again, but my car just died while I was going to a friend'* house. Luckily, it was parked there and would not start up. So, my question is, is it still worth it to switch out sensors? would that do it? because it does feel like the fuel is cut off.

Yup, replace the sensor. It has completely failed.
