Fuel Pipe Leaking and Confusion at Dealer
I have a 96SE with a K vin.
There is a leak in the fuel pipe between the fuel filter and the (tank, pump) not sure but the connection is at the top of the tank. The pipe has two connectors on each end.
One dealer says I need the pipe and the connector part # 25613789 #12388064
Another dealer says I just need the pipe which has the connectors #25625186
Is there an after market part, these parts are exp[ensive from GM and I don't have a spare car to allow me to remove the leaking one and take it with me.
Oh by the way they both need to order the part.
Any halp of suggestions would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
James

Thnks for the info, I guess I am going to need to take it off first, from what I see there are no metal tubing parts, the connectors look about right though, at least on the fuel filter.

I was able to find the part,
I am wondering if I need to drop the tank to do this replacement, the fuel pipe has quick connectors on each end. When I saw my car up on the hoist I could see both ends but was not sure I could get to the one above that tank to remove or replace it.
Anyone done this???
Cheers,
James
p.*. the dealer told me $200 labor for the job.

When I replaced my fuel sender, one of the hoses didn't seal right. Of course, I didn't discover this until everyhting was buttoned up.
I have large hands, but I was able to let the fuel tank down a bit, without completely removing the strap, giving my just enough room to remove the clip and pull the hose off and replace it.
There had been some disagreement on if it can be done without dropping the tank, so it may vary per car. In my case, it could.
Are you certain the fitting is leaking? In my case, I thought it was the fitting, and it turned out my sending unit was full of pin holes... and needed replacement. Unfortunately, THAT requires the tank to be dropped... a major PITA.

Well, So far so good. The new fuel pipe seems to have stopped the leak.
Info
Dealer wanted to charge me $200 plus parts, said he needed to drop tank.
Local repair shop did it in 15 minutes, didn't drop the tank and replaced a burnt license plate bulb $25
Jeez, i guess GM was trying to get more bailout funds.
