Default check engine light 98 bonneville 3800 series ii

my check engine light is on but car runs perfect. 98 bonneville 3800 series II .probablly something to do with having the gas tank off. my car is rebuilt. tried several things but nothing has worked so far. any suggestions?

Take it to Autozone and get it scanned. They should do it for free. Most auto parts stores will. Come back to us before buying any parts.

Or post your location in your profile so we can see if we have a member with a scantool nearby.

We have no way of telling you what it could possibly be from the fact that you have a light.

go to autozone and have it scanned, there is no sense in troubleshooting a check engine light without knowing what code is being thrown

The pcm can throw over 300 different codes for things.....So definantly need to narrow that down

Default 98 bonneville 3800 series II check lite

thanks guys! smack me! i hadn't thought of that. i have to take it in for fuel regulator recall, maybe the dealer i know will kick it off. if not i'll take to autozone. it runs great,but not gettin the fuel mileage others say they get. light could have something to with it. i have a 92 with almost 200k never had any probs but the alternator.

The dealer is probably gonna try and make you have them fix it...Or they won't scan it unless they are gonna fix it...so be prepared for that
