Default Steering Column Question

Does anybody know how to take a steering column out of a 94 SSEI?? I have everything apart and it is loose but it seems like it is catching on something inside the black boot at the firewall (I am guessing the joint)

Does the joint have to come apart some how or do you just pull it out?

My other car it just pulled out and had a spline on it.

If anybody has any ideas please let me know as soon as possible this thing is giving me trumendous troubles.
