Default Suspension....

How do I know if I have ELC or CCR suspension? My Bonne does not sag but does bottom out when I go over a good bump in the road or when I have people sitting in back. I have noticed alot of travel in my rear shocks and I want to replace them asap but I need to make sure I buy the right replacements. I have plenty of experience working on cars and suspensions but this my first Bonne and I want to make sure I do the job right. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I have tried to find a related thread on this but I have had no luck. I have found similar threads but none that answer my question. Thank you in advance and I hope everyone is having a great day!

ELC is typically only on the SSE/SSEi, and only effects the rear of the vehicle. You would know it by seeing an air compressor in the rear, underneath of your car. CCR...you would know it if you have three magic buttons in your center console.

Okay so I guess I do not have the ELC suspension as my Bonne is the SLE sub model and I do not have any magical buttons on my center console other than a traction control button next to my shifter. Does this mean I just have regular gas shocks on my Bonne?

Awesome!! Thanks for the help! I called my local Pontiac dealer and they have confirmed 1993 SLE'* response by using the last 8 numbers of my VIN. I do indeed have the FE1 suspension. Thanks again!!

Default air struts

FYI, you can always install aftermarket rear air struts, they bolt right up, then get the little hose kit, less than 5 bucks, comes with a valve that looks like a tire valve stem.. Then you can keep about 10-15 PSI in there on normal days, then when you load it up, pump them up more, keeps it nice and level. My '93 SE was once my family'* road car, both girls in the back seat, luggage in the trunk, about 30 PSI and it was level, kept the headlights out of the sky, no more bottoming out. Poor man'* level ride. By the way, at the time I put them in, they were a few bucks less than the regular struts. Something to consider.
