Weird Brake problem
It has been raining for the past day and a half and that first has me mad. But anyway I was at Lowes today and in the parking lot pulling into the space I hear a weird noise and feel a like bump. So get out and have my mom move forward and hit the brakes again and the right rear wheel like locks itself up. And the anti lock kick in and it seems to only be the right rear one. Could water be getting in the drum and causing it to act up or should I know that it may be much worse. Because when you drive a little ways the brakes warm up and it stops. Starting again tomorrow it will be going the 50 miles each way trip to work! Should I be worried and keep it home? Or is it fine I just need the drums like re sealed?

Nice to see someone else in Wisconsin. Theres only a few limited members here. To me it sounds like it may be the moisture from all this rain. My 93 is squeaking when I brake until after the first 5 or so stops. My other suggestion would be that maybe they need to be bled cause it sounds a bit uneven. Or it could also need a brake job like Will states above. I will leave the rest open for others.

I know the brakes are good unless something went wrong I had the brakes done less than a year ago and the rears had more than 50% of life the fronts were bad. The abs kicks in on the smallest little brake application but I thought that it may be the rain.

As pads age they get contaminated and grabby.
Spend $20 and change out the pads and make sure the bearings and wheel cylinder are not leaking (causing the contamination). I go thru this on my F150 every 3 or 4 years, it sure is fun scaring the crap outta the neighbors on their morning walk.

Working with a mechanic buddy, I've seen all sorts of things. Pull the drums off and do a standard inspection.
Might be the shoe broke up, could be in need of a brake line flush, maybe the porportional valve went bad... could be a number of things...

A leaking wheel cylinder can contaminate the friction material of the brake shoe. When this happens, it can cause the wheel to lock up with very little pedal effort, especially in the moring when everything is cool. I have seen them so bad that they actually locked a wheel up at speed before. It doesnt take much to pull the wheel and drum off to inspect it. Its better to catch the problem before it does further damage

I had mine do that before. Brake fluid will cause a SEVERE friction grab if it gets inside the drum
Just change the rear wheel cylinders, very easy to do, and clean out everything very well with brake fluid. If the shoes are looking worn, replace them as well. Otherwise, everything is good.
