Brake light stays on
My wife lost the owners manual so I'm not sure if it is the brake warning light or the E brake light. It is not the ABS light. When looking at the dash panel it is in then "trunk" of the car image and says brake with an image that looks like a drum brake. The light stays on and then goes off particularly under acceleration. I replaced the switch with no luck. It appears to be the E brake light as when the car is sitting with the light off and I apply the E-brake the light will come on and go off when the brake is released. Is this light also hooked up to the sensor in the master cylinder? If so, would low brake fluid be the problem. I did a search and found one post that indicated this but I wasn't sure if there was a separate brake warning vs E brake light. Thanks. BTW, it is a 95 SE

The easy check would be to add brake fluid to the master cylinder if it'* low compared to the mark on it. That should turn off the light if it'* the fluid level. Low level can mean a leak or that the calipers have worn and more fluid has gone into the pistons there. Might check brake pad depth.

Well, just in case someone didn't know, the E brake light and brake warning light is the same. Therefore, applying the E brake or low brake fluid will cause the light to come on. I thought it was just an E brake light. Yes, the master cylinder was low which begs the question, why!! Well, the MC is leaking!! Thanks

Good. You found it. Isn't it great there'* a low brake fluid warning. You could have found out one day at a stop sign that your fluid was too low to work right. IT'* much better to have the light.

Yes, it is nice to know the fluid is low before you have no braking!!! I just didn't know the light indicats low fluid or a deployed e-brake. The part was about 80! Thanks again for the responses.
