The color of the cam is normal. That'* the way those cams come.
Believe me, I thought about false knock, a header hitting something, etc. Nope, that'* not it. False knock does not destroy bearings. Besides, what do you think the chances are that I missed a bolt 3 times.

The IC core would not cause the problem I had. Talked to SGP358 about the transmission. And the transmission would damage it'* self long before the engine.

Went out today and cleaned things all up so I don't need to spend time doing it when I'm putting back together. I also checked over some of the porting and found the LIM was off a little bit. So I made a perfectly matched gasket for the IC core, then laid it on the LIM and marked it off. One corner was off a good quarter inch. The rest was close. So I cleaned it all up and now it'* a perfect match. Every little bit helps.

Got my replacement cam.
Put it in this morning.
Line up the dots and always take a picture.
Nothing worse then thinking, did I line them up right?
Got the valve train all done.
Closing her up.
There she is, done, again.
This better fix the problem. I'm getting a little sick of ripping this engine apart. I've built many many engines but I have never seen a problem like this. Really has me scratching my head.

Thanks. I've talked to a lot of mechanics, and they all say this is strange. We all have said the same thing, it'* something rotating. And I have now replaced every last rotating part in this engine. Crank, pistons, flex plate, harmonic balancer, balance shaft, timing gears, oil pump, and now the cam. Nothing is left other then the transmission.
