Default Question about our remote entry systems

Does anyone know if the remote entry system found on a 96 SSE is compatible with the aftermarket add-on remote start kits such as the ones made by DEI? I know I would also need the resistor pack to override the VATS system, but they say the existing system needs to have an extra output or something like that (I assume some sort of grounding output if you were to press both the lock andunlock buttons at the same time--that'* how the Avital system on my Grand Prix works)
Figured I'd ask before I go digging thru schematics, just in case someone has already tackled this

Thanks,
Jim

I've got an aftermarket car starter in my 92 SE with the remote door locks & remote Trunk features hooked into a single 5 button transmitter.

Yeah, but at his age, can he even remember what all the buttons do?

Nice try!
Actually the buttons go like this:
Top: Lock All Doors
LH Middle: Open Trunk
Dead Center: Start Engine
RH MIddle: Stop Engine
Bottom: Unlock All Doors
The "Start Engine" & "Stop Engine" buttons are also used to program the the auto start feature as well as disable the entire system while away for extended times!

I won this car starter at the last new car auto show last March! All I had to pay was the labour & the module to bypass the VATS.

I think he just read all that stuff out of the book, but that'* a whole 'nother story....

Does anyone actually know the answer to my original question?
I know I could just put in my own remote start system (did that on the Grand Prix--took me 6 freakin hours), but DEI makes a unit that lets you add remote start capability to a factory system (the Valet 551T), but it needs a extra output to actuate it

First off! "KISS THIS"
Second, you can get a GM unit too!

GM makes a remote start system?!
Where in the heck would I get one of those, without giving up an arm, leg, and possibly other appendages?
