On swapping the motor with say a junkyard one..something to consdier is if it comes out of a bonneville you will save hours of swapping motor mounts, accessory brackets, oil filter adapters....

I am not familiar enough with used engine costs, etc, so I'll let someone else answer that one.

As far as a new UIM, you can buy new replacement from Dorman, Kenco and then there'* this new supplier here:

APN Intake Fix Kit

Only one person here has tried this one and it sounds good, but we don't have the experience yet.

There is also a member here who reworks used intakes and creates what we believe to be the best long term replacement fix. His name is : Bob Dillon

The aluminum LIM gaskets are available from your GM dealer and are the best replacement item we know about.

Do a little bit of searching and reading, both in our TECHINFO section and in this board. You'll come up to speed pretty quickly and be knowledgable enough to instruct your mechanic, lol.

If I would get one out of a bonneville that would save a ton of time but how would I know if it has been damaged like the one I currently have? I am scared I am going to end up digging a deeper hole here.

My car is so pretty and I can't believe it is doing this to me.

Why didn't they recall these cars and fix the issues.

That'* been asked and answered before. Essentially, this is not a safety issue, so not a likely recall candidate.

Is there anyone in ohio that you think could help me?

I want to keep her so bad, she drives so nice and I love my leather seats.

I don't want to sell a shell of a car and only get a couple hundred dollars back after spending 5 grand.

Private Seller????

OR

I would seriously start thinking of returning the car to the dealership with which you bought the car from, anything now a days can be returned within 90 days!!!.

You have nothing to lose and everything to gain!!! At the very least they have a reputation to uphold for selling good used cars and try and fix your problem as an unsatisfied customer!. Customer service goes a long way in this world if you use it!!!.

I bought it as is and even signed a paper agreeing to no warranty because I got a good price on it, or so I thought. :(

Ohio doesn't even have a lemon law, they used to.

I have been sick to my stomach since yesterday, don't know what to do.

well, i would say if you want a long term fix, and you have enough money I would recommend a remanufactured engine from like JASPER...

******IMPORTANT INSTALLATION INFORMATION******
If the engine is equipped with a plastic intake, it needs to be
inspected for pitting to prevent oil contamination from coolant
leakage. Replacement of manifold may be required(TSB 01-06-007A).
**********************************************
--To protect against overheating and injector problems due to fuel
wash, JASPER installs graphite coated pistons in this application.
The graphite serves as a lubricant for less wear on the cylinder
walls.
--Due to head gasket leaks and early failures, all new torque to
yield head bolts are used. This will help to provide a better head
to block seal for longer life.

Notes:
Product summary: Front Wheel Drive, Roller Tappets, With Balance Shaft, Low Oil Sensor Pan
Block casting: 24502287
Block casting location: DRIVERS SIDE TO REAR OF THE BLOCK
Crank casting: 2170
