newbie with yet another stalling post
hello all.i have been reading the posts on this board for about three months now and gained alot of info.i have read a whole lotta posts about stalling.some were informative while others are inconclusive which is why im posting about mines.this seems to be very common from what ive read so far.anyway,i have a 93se with 158xxx miles that ive owned for 2 years.other than regular maintenance,its been trouble-free up until 3 weeks ago.i was rolling along the highway one day doing about 70 when the engine shut off,i heard "ding ding ding",and by the time i looked at the guages,it was back on.this scared the crap outta me so i hurried home.drove the car another week and a half with no problems whatsoever.the one sunday i was on my way out when the car stalled twice in the driveway then died in the street.it wouldnt start for hours but started once and stalled.same problem next day and once it started i was able to drive around the block and into my driveway before it died.i changed the cranksensor.it ran after and then stalled again.next day ran fine drove for another week and now its dying again.right now it will run for 5sec.and die and then just crank no start.i cant afford to change icm and pcm without certainty . btw no codes eitherand steady 40-45 fuel pressure.i cleaned batt cables and grounds and under icm already.check ecm and its not getting hot,nor is the module.im almost to the point of burning it.any help please

Have you checked for Spark, check/cleaned the battery cables & Grounds, check ECM Relay, verified power to ECM and ICM? Thats kinda the order Iwould proceed in since you seem to be implying that you think it might be a pwer issue.

i checked for spark when it first happened and had none.i checked and cleaned grounds today.where might the ecm relay be located??thanks.i also checked the battery cables.

Ok,let'* try this again.While highway driving,engine will shut off.Sometimes it will restart,sometimes it wont.When this first happened,i replaced the cranksensor.It ran longer,but started stalling after 15 min.The next day it ran fine. I drove for a week it started again. Now it will run for about 5 sec.and shut off. I've checked batt.cables,grounds,module,coils for corosion and ecm for hotness. When it shuts off now,i hear a relay click under the glovebox. When all this happens,the car maintains a steady 40-45 psi fuel pressure.Usually after 1 or 2 shutdowns,it will not restart. If i let it sit for a while ,it will start,but almost immediately shut off.

If you haven't yet, try cleaning the ground bus, per this techinfo article.

See if that helps. When you cleaned up the battery cables, did you pull the boots off, in particular the positive cables, to clean the corrosion under the boots?

i've checked the ground buss on the passenger side...spotless. i cant locate one on the driver'* side. I also have tried to add my car to my sig twice but i dont see it.i have a 93 bonneville se. with almost 159,000 miles. thanks for the replies

The one on the driver'* side is likely to be more of an issue. It will be taped to the large wire loom. This thread shows a picture of what it looks like before removing the tape.

I am having the same problem as biggr101on my '95 Bonneville with the following caviats:
The cluster lights, fuel pump relay and cooling fan relay cycle at about a 10Hz rate "sometimes" when the engine stalls.
We also have a problem with the door locks blowing the 10 A fuse "sometimes" in the Relay Center (RH kick panel). I replaced the fuse with a quick blow circuit testing circuit breaker and it simply resets itself as needed.
I too have checked all the same things he has, plus the buss on the right side - minimal corrosion at best and none on the terminals themselves. Crank sensor has been replaced as well.
I was about to replace the PCM since that is the common denominator to the issues, but I think I'll do a little more research and wiring checks first.
I will check the left side buss bars.
I have the 1996 H/C car service manual from GM. Does anyone have or have a source for the 1995 H/C car service manual to share PDFs?
