Default 97 Bonne not running-no fuel pressure

Tried starting Tuesday morning and would not start.Checked valve on fuel rail and had nothing.I heard nothing from the fuel pump so I checked the fuse under the passenger side of the dash and it was good.I changed this pump(Airtex) back in September but it never seemed "right".It would always take 2 tries to start the engine.Sometimes it would start right up but that was the exception rather than the rule.Could my relay be bad?

relay could be bad do you hear it clicking? might try tapping on the relay when you start cranking - also thump the fuel tank before and during cranking. after that I would test the relay and test voltage/connections to the pump. sounds like you don't have much faith in the new pump.

could also be the sending unit connector, if you dont get good power and ground through the connector it wont work right. i had to solder the wires together on my inlaws 96.

I am not a fan of Airtex pumps. A Delphi or AC/Delco would be a much better choice.

I couldn't agree more. Every single Airtex pump I've ever installed in any vehicle has failed within the first 6 months of operation. I refuse to use them anymore.

I installed a Airtex in my Blazer about 3 years ago. Now that I said something...

Smile Not running-no fuel pressure

Hi folks,
I forgot to mention that I replace the fuel pump a week later.Being that the previous pump was purchased at Auto Zone it was still under the 1 year warranty so I got my money back for a defective pump.

So, what did you do exactly? Did you take the new pump out and return it for a full refund? I'm confused here.

Maybe I confused you by saying the pump that I put in back in September was defective.I should've said it just failed prematurely.
