Default Gas gauge connector location, '99 SLE?

someone posted in another thread (which I can't find using the search engine, sorry, admin) that one reason gas gauges get wacky is that the connection within the trunk gets corroded, and cleaning usually cures the problem.

I can't find the location of this wire set, even after looking around with a flashlight.

Can someone help?

thanks.

do you mean behind the back seat within the trunk compartment, or is it sandwiched between the back seat and the back seat support?

its between the backseat and the trunk compartment.....if you go in the trunk....all the way to the front of the trunk...there should be a little flap at the very bottom, that you can lift up and get access to that the wires

Actually, Pat is QUITE wrong. The connection you're looking for is under the car, at the rear of the tank on the passenger side, right next to the two fuel lines (not the FILL lines, but the fuel lines to and from the engine compartment).

There'* a safety tab in the connector that must be pulled out first. Most of us find it easier to access this plug with the strap hanging, so you obviously want a nearly empty tank.

Mortehl should have a picture. Like Bill said it'* easiest with a strap hanging however I believe on Aarons there was enough wiring to get at it w/o needing to distrub the tank. His is a 94.
