Cool Service Engine Soon Light but car runs great!

1992 Bonneville, 3800 , series 1. Car in park, press brake pedal a few times, release and service engine light comes on. Press on brake, hold 30 seconds, light goes off. Release pedal, wait 30 seconds, light comes back on. Scoped out as code 26. What'* happening here? Is there impending failure coming? Thanks for your help, Mike.

Have you checked your brake fluid level? My wifes van was getting a light and it turned out being low fluid.

I did some digging around and this is what I found.

26 Quad-Driver sense voltage shows a low voltage when battery voltage should be present, or if the sense voltage shows battery voltage when a low voltage should be present for at least 5 seconds when the engine was running.
I would suggest checking your battery cables and cleaning both ends real good. It sounds like you have low voltage. If still doing it then check your brake lights for corrosion.
