Question HELP! Power antenna...

Help!

The power antenna on my car (1999 SE) was badly bent and never worked. I bought the car this way. I replaced it with another antenna in working order. However, it does not function and it is not the antenna. It had an aftermarket stereo system installed before I owned it. The previous owner reinstalled the factory head unit.

1. I believe it is not the fuse, as the same fuse works the power locks, trunk release, and horn; all these work
2. Tested the orange wire and it has full power.
3. Tested the green wire and it has no power ‘at all’ when the radio is turned on/off.

Does the green wire connect to the radio? I am assuming the previous owner might have cut the green wire, so the antenna motor would not drain the battery (as the antenna was broken). I might have to pull the radio to see if the green wire is cut or disconnected. Lastly, how difficult is it to remove the plastic piece from the dash?

When your radio is on/off....do you hear the power antenna motor at all. If you move back the carpet from the antenna area there will be a small black relay. If it is pluged in you should hear the motor. My 97'* stopped working and I just unplugged it in the up position so it stopped clicking. I would check there first.....at least with this you can see if your even getting power back there.

There is no sound/clicking. I tested the antenna in a friend’* car and it worked perfect. I believe it is because the green wire in my car is not receiving power/signal from the radio.

You said your car has an aftermarket radio installed. It'* possible the new deck may not have the provision for remote amp turn on. Or in our case, power antenna. If your deck does have it, it may be the remote amp turn on. If possible, get the mfg and model number and check for a manual on the mfg'* website. Find the wiring instructions and see if it has one. We'll go from there.

The aftermarket stereo was removed and the factory HU was reinstalled prior to me purchasing the car. It has the factory radio in it.

The green wire is the power up or down wire. I believe it gets power and goes up. Ground and it goes back down. It is connected to the factory radio harness. Pin # 8. It is either pink or green I believe. Not sure exactly on a 99/
