Default Transmission Diagnosis

Hey guys,

I was driving from class today and right off the bat I knew something was wrong when I put the car in reverse. The car wasn't moving that well so then I part it into driving and nothing. I turned off the car and waited 2 minutes then turned it back on. I put the car into drive and it worked. I drive 2 miles down the road and if its as though my transmission went to neutral on its own. So I turn off the car and do the same routine 2 more times and I finally gave up and called AAA. I checked fluid and it had metal in it. If I do need a new transmission, are there any performance rebuilds? I remember there was a series one performance website a while back that had some kind of offer like that but instead of being pissed off about it, I'm trying to take advantage of the situation.

Cheers,
Manny

I think Intense has some upgradeable parts for your trans. One of our transexperts should have more info for ya.

This is on your 93? I believe you have a 4t60 transmission. Not much in performance parts that I know of. But that trans is not really one I know a lot about.

There is a big transgo kit for your trans with a ton of upgrades and things of that nature. Not sure if we could call them performance upgrades, but there are a bunch of improvements on the designs.

A 4T60E is a great trans and will perform just fine with a stock rebuild.
Dan, a 4T60 E is very similar to the 4T65E, except it uses an external vacuum modulator instead of an internal electronic pressure control solenoid. I personally like it better than a 4T65E in stock applications.

They are very similar. Actually there are almost identical, but they do not interchange.

That'* to bad. Would be nice if you could use the same input shafts or HD diff and output shaft.

I have never actually compared the outputs, but I know that the stator shaft that goes theough the case is just a little shorter on a 65 than a 60, so I would doubt that the output would be interchangeable.
If you have ALLDATA or something similar, you can compare part #'* of components.
