Will these rear brakes NEVER wear out?!
Had a little brake pedal feedback this week, so I went to take a look at the brakes today. Greased the Zerk fittings on the front end, pulled the calipers and reseated and retorqued them, checked out the rotors and shoes, all seemed OK.
Then I decided to look at the rears as they have 138K on them. Figured maybe a drum was out of round or I was running out of lining. Greased all the Zerk fittings, pulled the drums, and...
Both the drums and the shoes look as good as the new ones I bought at 85K, figuring it would need them sometime soon. Douched them out with BrakeKleen, dried 'em off, torqued the studs, put her up on 4.
I don't know what I did, but it worked. No pedal feedback.
This amazes me, I've never had a car as easy on the rear brakes.

Probably not adjusted correctly. 80% front 20% rear. Right now, your rears are probably at 10%

Bob..it takes a fast stop in reverse to keep them adjusted.
Adjust manually..then keep them adjusted. Most likely..you aren't using them.

I just pulled my rear drums for the first time before Cedar Falls trip. Same thing. Cleaned them out and put drums back on. I was expecting to replace pads and drums.

Which is a contributing factor for warped front rotors.

I like to keep my rear brakes adjusted up... When I am working on something or rotating tire I like to pull the drums and do a little cleaning and adjusting just so I have a small amount of drag on the rear brakes... At 150K I still have not worn the rear shoes out...lol
