Diagnostic code help
Okay, I took my car to have the codes checked and nothing came up. Good news I'm guessing (changing spark plugs this weekend, hope it fixes problem.) Anyway, my air bag light is on...from the rear-ending thing. If that was a sensor problem wouldn't a code for it show up? I'm just curious. Taking it to a mechanic soon...will probably have to pay for it, at least for now, until the insurance people decide they will allow me to see a mechanic and pay for it themselves.

I would strongly encourage you NOT to pay for it. Getting reimbursed later will be that much more difficult. They HIT your car! They MUST fix it, especially something as obvious as an airbag. Your PCM won't throw a code for the airbag, 'cuz it ain't an engine parameter.....just like ABS, it'* an independent system.

Personally I don't want to pay for it, but they don't think that a mechanic needs to look at it. Since it'* all supposedly just cosmetic damage. Bull. The air bag light is not on to make the inside of the car look prettier. I should hear from my lawyer today. Woo-hoo!! Okay, so no codes is a good thing. Thanks!

Don't pay for anything . I had the same problem , got a lawyer and he sent me to a mechanic paid the lawyer 400.00 and he got me 1800.00 for damages that were only 1200.00 and he did that in a week and a half! tehy get bonuses if they save the insurance company money so they will lie and give you a little bit of money to fix your car and your insurance company won't tell you this cause they can't incourage sueing insurance companies!
