I don't know how you guys are getting any higher than that, unless it'* just a minor inaccuracy with the speedometer. They weren't meant to be 100% accurate at 100+ mph. I think most are off a little, which is why police cars have to have a special "certified" speedometer. My HUD reads about 1 mph different from my analog speedometer . I hope this was helpful...
Ford crownvics w/ the police package have 'certified calerbration' under the speedo i dont know if the regular vic

You could have gone faster? Not likely. That'* the limit in your PCM.

One thing to note, the higher the speeds, the more inaccurate speedometers get. So your car may be limited @ 110, but if your PCM thinks your doing 110 when you're doing 117, then that'* what'll happen. Ol Blue Eyes hit 117 too i think on GPS.

I've revved the engine into the yellow zone (between 5000 and 6000) stopped in neutral while showing off for a friend. She drives a 2.4L V4 Beetle, so naturally, she was impressed by my 3.8L V6. And that'* all that really matters

I think when I get back to my car, I'll rev it up nice and easy (in neutral with the brakes on) and find my limiter. Whoever said 6000 RPM, that sounds like a good guess.

I've found the 4K RPM limit, though I'm pretty sure I've broken that limit once before. Then again, my memory blows.

In search of where the devil lives, I found a nice stretch of deserted highway (Merritt Parkway at midnight) and went looking for that in-gear limit. The highest I could get it was 6K RPM flooring it, and then it would upshift automatically. I'll just assume it'* 6K. That'* a little high for my tastes anyway.

And as far as car compliments are concerned, I've found that everyone compliments my car unless theirs is better. So my friends with no cars, Mercury Topaz minivans and Oldsmobile anythings have given compliments, while my friends with Mazda RX-8'*, Toyota Supras and supercharged Mitsubishi 3000GT'* just laugh. Oh well.
