Question What is a 1999 Bonneville SE Worth (with 205,000 miles)?

My recent work car (1994 Buick Regal - 3.1 V6) with 231,000 miles has had transmission failure. I am looking for a new work car. My friend’* dealership has a 99 Bonneville SE with 205,000 miles and they will let it go for $1,500 dollars (a little high, I think). It comes with all the options, except 3 - leather, moon roof, and turbo charger. The car shifts, runs, and rides as smooth as silk. The body is in average condition.

I would like to know what your opinions are.

Thanks,
Bonne99

Here are my thoughts. Checking the Kelly Blue Book, Trade In value for the car is around $1000. They are turning it around and making about $500. A dealer has to make money or they won't stay in business. That is a pretty cheap mark-up from a dealer. Kelly Blue Book shows the Private Party value about $2000.
Now if this is going to be your work car, you are starting off with a car that has 205K. I do believe the Bonneville is capable for many more miles but you could end up with two cars needing tranny work. Good luck.

I work for the largest used car company in the US. That car would bring maybe $350 a dealer auction depending on condition. Unless the car is very very nice, I would say $1500 is a little high. I would be more in live with $850 to $1000.

I am almost positive the transmission is not original (has been replaced). I am having my mechanic check it out before I even think of purchasing it.

Nice question marks.

200K on an SE, IMO if you pay over $500 it'* a bad deal. However any running and driving car in decent shape should fetch $1500.
