Well I got the trans in, everything hooked back up and it all works great. Shifts just like it should, responds to the thottle perfectly, downshifts perfectly, the T/C is working correctly. The only thing is that I didn't bother adjusting the shifter cable for the new trans, so you can't select "1" on the shifter. P,R,N,D,3,2 are all accecssable though. Someday if I get bored I'll adjust the cable. With the trans plus new seals, filter, and fluid it was about $480.
I'm very pleased. I'm sure my dad will be too. Driving his 16 MPG F-150 100 miles a day 5 days a week was getting really expensive.

Glad to hear it went well.
A little tweak to the two bolts that hold the cable to the trans might be all that is necessary instead of actually following the adjustment procedure.
