I've replaced a couple motors. How I tell they were bad was measuring power at the plug. Also, mine would work if I hit them with a hammer. They would work for a while, then quit. Tapping them made them work until that didn't work anymore. For a 92, changing it isn't the end of the world, but I think you have other problems. See if 12volts is at the motor plug.
