So, yesterday morning my car was fine, last night it wouldn't start...

Battery has plenty of charge, the starter is trying to start, (you hear it click) but the motor just isnt turning over. Any ideas?

The security light on the dash comes on for a few seconds then goes away like normal, when I try to start it, the brake light on the system monitor lights up as well as the ABS light, not sure if that'* normal or not.

Clean the battery cables at both ends of every single cable. Fairly common problem.

Dirty cable would make it just click? Come to think of it... I figured the battery was too low, so we tried to jump it (last night) and when we hooked the cables up to the battery, I don't remember it sparking... I'm going to tried cleaning them up with some sandpaper and see how I make out.

Alright, I went out to clean the battery cables, and noticed a puddle under the car... my coolant drained out somewhere... any ideas what this could mean?

Sometimes the upper intake gaskets or the manifold itself fails allowing coolant into the crankcase & even the combustion chamber. This is mainly a problem on cars with the 'plastic' intake manifold. Check for coolant in the oil & pull all 6 spark plugs & then see if the engine turns over. Don't try starting until we find out if you have coolant in any of the cylinders.

I really have no experience with working on cars... how do I check if there is coolant in the oil? Would I be able to tell from the dipstick?

Keep in mind the above description by Ted is primarily for the L36 engine. You have the L27.

Check your cylinders for coolant/water, and inspect your plugs, but yes, corroded cable ends will cause a click/no-start.

I just checked the oil on the dipstick, and the level is normal, and it'* a normal light brown clear color, not milky like. So, this (hopefully) means its not leaking into the oil at least. Right?

Looks like I was off by a year. They didn't start using the composite manifold til 95. I'm not sure if we've had any pre 95 engines leak into the cylinders. Coolant in the crankcase would make the coolant look milky on the dipstick.

We posted at the same time. You probably just have an external leak. The coolant loss & not tuning over had me thinking the engine was hydrolocked.
