i know you guys have done a few posts on bleeding brakes and things of that sort but i am still having a problem.... hopefully you can help. i bought a new rubber brake hose from advanced auto for the driver side. its the piece that goes from the caliper up to the metal brake line. so i took off the old one and hooked up my new one an bled that side because i thought if you just have one side off that you only have to bleed that side.. but long story short got it put back together and bam no brake pressure.. i got some of it to come back after pumping the brakes but after about 15 min i had nothing. so i brought it back home and bled all 4 brakes took it for a drive and nothing... so my petal goes all the way to the floor but if i really slam on the petal ill eat dashboard lol otherwise i have to put a great deal of force on the petal once its down and only the passenger side will hook up and its barely even enough to stop me when im doin 30mph. so my question to you guys is 1.) air in the lines? 2.) maybe the master cylinder? 3.)put full coverage on it and find a deer to hit hahah jk

i know danthurs has quite a bit posted when it comes to brakes so hopefully he has some input.

If you can get brake pressure by pumping the brakes, you probably still have air in the lines. Bleed them again, and don't spare the fluid.

Did you have any symptoms prior to changing out the hose that would indicate an issue with the master cylinder? There could be a problem with the master cylinder, but my personal primary rule for repairs is if you do something to your car and right afterwards the car has a problem, 99% of the time your problem is related to what you just worked on.

Bleed em some more.

alright well i just got in from bleeding them again with no air coming out on any of them except one or two bubbles in the right rear. so when my petal goes to the floor i can push slightly harder to get slight braking and i can really ram on them to get both sides to work otherwise i cant build pressure that will stay. so im not quite sure what the deal is *scratching my head*

Dan, can you review this thread please? Sounds to me like it could be a master cylinder, but I might be missing something.

just to rule this out are there any visible leaks anywhere on the brake system?

Sounds like you got air up in the master cylinder. At any point did you run the reservoir way down? Two things will cause a mushy brake, air in the lines, or a bad master cylinder.

no leaks in the lines and actually yeah i had my friend watch the reseviour to make sure it did not drop below half but i guess texting is just too important these days haha but yeah the fluid level dropped down to almost empty could that have done something to damage parts?

also the dealer said that some of the early 90'* models had to have a scan tool hooked up to run the abs pump could this be true for my 92 se?

Not damage, but there could be air in the system you aren't getting out with bleeding. Picture it this way; air at the top, fluid in the middle, and air at the bottom. You bled out the air at the bottom, got to the fluid in the middle, but did not get to the air at the top.

so that must mean i have a ton of air in there because i have used over 2 quarts of fluid bleeding these things lol so i talked to the "stealership" and they actually said it would run me about 40 bucks to have it bled and completely looked over
