Default Oh crap! Code 41! Any advice?

Hello all. The check engine light for my 92 SSE came on the other day and I decided to pull the codes. I got a code 41 (cam sensor). My car seems to run fine but when its hot it does have a bit of a miss. Do you think I can get away with replacing just the sensor? I have read on this forum that the magnet inside could come off and then its a hellish job to replace. Any advice on my first course of action? Is there soomething I can clean or check before forking out for a new cam sensor?

thanks in advance for any advice.

thanks for the tip JR. One question though. Wouldn't it make noise if the magnet is bouncing around inside the timing cover? BTW the SES light came on just after I gunned it from about 60mph. thought that might help in the diagnosis.
