Recall on upper?
I was googling some stuff looking for an upgraded PCM for my car when I came across a site listing TSBs and recalls. I had always thought there were no recalls on my car...but I looked at it anyways. It listed the upper intake as a saftey recall...I don't know how valid the site'* info is though, but here it is http://www.alldata.com/TSB/07/960715FE.html lemme know what you guys think. I was a little amazed to see that and personally think it'* fake.

OK, I looked into it further and it seems it'* a recall for a backfire causing the manifold to crack on '96-'97 H-body cars. Darn I thought it was for the melting.

Yes the backfire definately is a good reason, i had one come in the shop, a '96 lesabre that got a huge crack right next to the TB opening. We asked him what happened and all he could think of is that it backfired once when he started it warm then started to run like crap immediately. By the time he got to our place the car was out of coolant. So there you go.

I believe that there were a couple of diffrent recalls for the exploding upper intake...
One was to flash the PCM to help avoid any backfires through the intake, I believe the other was for leaky fuel pressure regulators...
There have been a few here that have had their car in for the recall... One of our members had the upper intake pop... Had it towed to the dealership, and one of the techs tried to start it, and it caught fire...
