Interior Lights won't shut off

Interior Lights won't shut off
Interior lights stay on all the time, except after leaving the car for more then 10 minutes (rundown protection thing shuts everything off?) I have removed fuse 6A temporary. Everything else seems to work fine.
Anyone have any ideas?
Bad ground or door latches?
How to trouble shoot?
Thanks

Please Help............
Is there a way to disconnect the wiring harness that goes to each door, in order to eliminate the door latches without removing each door panel?
Thanks

There should be a relay that controls the lights to come on and off. In the 93 the Remote Accessory Control module controls the relay. The relays are located down below the glove box, or somewhere in the vicinity. The service manual does a poor job or showing the exact location. The interior lamps is the lower right relay in the 93.
Probably either your relay or the control module has gone bad, you could start with replacing (or just removing) the relay (~$10), but to really find the solution you need a good diagnostic.
Maybe someone with a 97 service manual can verify it'* the same as a 93.

i have the same problem and i thought that the sensor on the door was bent or something. but i looked and it isn't. so i looked on the sun machine at autos the other day to get the location of the control module. it is under the glove box, behind the sound deadiner and by that fuse box. i need to go out and get a new module. should i get it from the dealer, or somewhere else? any suggestions. thanks.

My 97 service manual says: Remote Function Actuator Module (no seperate relays shown or listed).
Behind RH side of I/P next to RH I/P power distribution center
It has a blue 30 pin connector.
The body control computer also has some input with the interior lights, but the basic test says to unplug the RFAM first and see if the lights go out.

I had the same problem the other day after our first good cold here in MS. I was leaving to go out of town that day and couldn't watch the car to see if it would go out with the timer. I disconnected the battery terminal and then connected it the next day when I returned. Haven't had the problem return yet! I fooled around a bit with the door latches. Maybe that cleared it up?

No, your problem is too _much_ ground. The interior-light circuit is hot at all times; the lights go on whenever it finds a ground, such as via a pin switch in one of the doors, or the 20-second timer module, or (no one has mentioned this one) the headlamp switch, when you rotate the **** fully counterclockwise.
> How to trouble shoot?
Check your door pin switches and your headlamp switch, for starters. If they're all okay, it sounds like you'll need to find and unplug the timer module. If that doesn't kill it either, you'll have to start looking for a wire somewhere that'* shorted to ground.
