fuel and temp problem
fuel?
after reading a thread a couple weeks back I started filling up with
supreme and i am happy. i am getting 3 or 4 more mpg. But heres the problem
from full tank to half a tank i get 260 miles and from half a tank til the gas light
comes on i get about 100 miles...any ideas why this happens???
also
temp?
during this time my engine temp acts screwy. before fill up engine is
around 205*. i fill up sit back in the car and engine temps is 150*.
from full tank to half tank engine stays around 150* and once it gets around
half tank temp will go up to 175* . the temp will gradually increase up to 205*
by the time the gas light comes on.any ideas on why this is happening?
i have a 180* thermostat ..

Fuel... our gauges and fuel tank senders are not linear. I experiece that same thing every tank.
The gauge is a reference..not an exact indication of how much fuel you have. Also consider how many miles you get before the gauge comes off the full mark.
Temp... interesting. Odd that it seems to follow changes with the fuel gauge. I'd suspect a possible bad connection in the cluster. However you should double check your readings with a scan tool to properly diagnose the issue.

If you felt the need to take any action, you could pull the T stat to ensure the intake was filled to the stat with coolant. (Some do this when they swap the stat originally) However at this point, you'll find it full and the effort would be wasted.
Air bubbles are a pain, and it'll clear soon enough. Try jacking or ramps.

which scantool should i get for my car?
one that is not to expensive and will do everything i need it to..
if there is one
any suggestions?
cat back exhaust sys.
dhp pcm
then pulley are my next mods
i have seen a code puller does this differ from the scan tool?
what exactly does a scantool do?
still new to modding / keeping car in good running condition
so forgive me if these questions seem newbie-ish.

Code puller will only tell you codes....a scantool will provide some live data of operational perameters, such as engine/coolant temperature.
As far as which scantool to get, many of the inexpensive ones provide some data, but not as much as the more complex ones.
I have the Actron CP9145 and it provides some basics, but not all that I hoped it would. I would buy a different one next time.
There are several discussions here on scantools....do a search and yu should find lots of info.
Also, if you don't want to (or don't have the funds) to purchase a scantool, there may be a member nearby that is willing to loan you theres or at least drop by for a scan.
