Default Check Engine Light

My 96 SE had a check engine light today. I got out my trusty code reader you guys have recommended and it came up with a 0135 and a 0135P. My little book with the scanner says 0135 is an O2 sensor on the rt bank but it has no code for 0135P. Should I change this out or just erase the code and see if it happens again? I have noticed my gas mileage has dropped several mpg recently but I was just blaming the winter gas for that. Are the o2 sensors hard to change? Thanks

Both the same code. clear the code and see if it comes back. How many miles you have on that O2 sensor?

No clue on the sensor. My bro in law was lax on maintenance so might be original. Car is at 121K. I just finished reading your instructions on replacing the O2 sensor in the "how to" section. Very handy! I should have read that first before posting. I will look into finding a Denso replacement. Thanks!

Give that a try. Might fix the problem. The O2 sensor is very rarely changed unless it goes out totally.

O2 sensors are really not that hard IF you get the special socket at a parts store.

Should be right on top of the rear manifold.

Just checking, I looked at some online parts houses and they listed upstream and downstream O2 sensors for the 96 se so I figured I better ask. Thanks guys!

Duh, thanks Dan, I forgot about him asking how hard it was. Preoccupied with finding image for socket.

Upstream is before the cat and downstream is after the cat.
