Won't Start. Need suggestions!
Help! I just completed a replacement of the LIM gasket, UIM and fuel rail on a 98. This was required when the UIM broke due to a backfire. While I was at it, I replaced the spark plugs as well.
All the work is complete but the car won't start. There is a good spark as indicated by the spark guage. The fuel pressure is good (>40 psi) and all the fuel injectors seem to be OK. (I checked these by cranking the engine and injecting the fuel into 6 little cups) So, I have fuel and I have spark but it won't start. I scanned the computer and I got a code P0122, low voltage on the throttle position sensor. I cleared it and it doesn't return. It seems to hold fuel pressure OK and there is no evidence of massive leakage at the FPR. I am quickly running out of ideas. I would sure appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks,
Phil

You can always try the 'hold the pedal to the floor' trick. That should clear up any flooding that may have occured by now.
Double check that all your sensors are plugged back in. Don't forget the MAP and the Crank on the right side.
Double check vacuum lines, esp that big one on the firewall side of the intake manifold.
Will it start with starter fluid?

I will give the spark plug wires and MAP and Sensor connectors another check. I think I have checked a dozen time so far, but you know how it is. Check, check and check again.
I am nervous about holding the pedal to the floor. After the backfire and explosion, I am a little "gun shy". If I get the nerve up, I will try that.
I will report back.
Thanks.

Yes, if the computer is listening. I was standing right beside it when it exploded. I scared the h*** out of me.
I will get my nerve up and give put the pedal to the floor to see if it clears.
Thanks.

Success! I am embarrassed to admit it, but I had 2 and 4 plug wires crossed in the back. That really makes you appreciate the old rear wheel drive '75.
Anyway, thanks for the help. Sometimes the obvious things don't seem so obvious when you are getting frustrated.

Don't be embarrassed. The reason most of know to double check things like that is because we've done it ourselves.
Glad you got her running.

Nothing to be ashamed of...it happens. I purposely have my wires loomed to keep this from happening....and I crossed #1 and #5 last night
