Default Help again please......

You guys were a great help last week (or two weeks ago?) with my Bonneville problems.

Now I have a question that I hope won't offend any of you Bonne lovers....
Our other car is an 87 Buick LeSabre which has the same engine (3.8 l) as our Bonneville. It has an erratic idle in park or neutral and chugs under load but cleans up over 2000 rpm. We checked idle air control valve. We are wondering if there is any way to adjust or check the TPS control or does it have to go to the dealership? The car has 330,000 km on it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Later years were a snap. Bad news. The best way to do it for an 87 is with a Scan tool. The good news is that it won't take long. Do you know someone with a tool? We can walk you through it if you can get your hands on one.

My 87 LeSabre LTD had the same problem! Turned out to be a mis-aligned TPS!

Don't need a scan tool for a 87! Try this: http://www.friedpoodle.com/ba/forum/...675318b77b2fcd

Short of buying one, it'* sometimes possible to rent one from a toll rental business. I'd suggest actually buying one. You should be able to get a descent one to do what you need for under $200. It'll pay for itself very quickly. DON'T buy a simple code scanner. You need a Scan Tool. Big difference.

Heath,

If you read Deathrat'* post, he gives instructions on how to pull codes from your 87 LeSabre without buying a scan tool. All you need is a paperclip. You can also find the proceedure in the Techinfo section of both Bonnevilleclub and BonnevilleAttitude. It is one of the perks of owning a pre-1994 GM H body.

Good luck pulling the codes. As soon as you pull them, post them here so that we can help you.
