I have a bad oil leak on Bonnie she is back from the shop and so far I have only had the front suspension repaired. She is leaking oil badly in the front valve cover gasket and leaking in the rear gasket also. First question where do the grommets fit into this? Under the screws on the valve cover or between the screws and the valve covers? How do the new gaskets go in is there a groove to place them into? Do they go on the engine first and then the valve cover or do they go into the cover and then onto the engine? On the back valve cover what do I need to take off to get this one fixed as well? Do I have to take off the fuel lines and unplug the spark plug wires and power steering hose etc wires to the O2 sensor? I would like any hints and tips on how to make this pain free as possible and is any walk troughs or tips would be great! Thanks guy'* after this she is off to the body shop, I just didn't want to catch her on fire because of oil running out the gaskets. I will let you guy'* know how everything went here in a little while so far not to bad getting her all better. Thanks all.

Not sure on the specifics of your year. But the gasket goes in a grove on the cover, and is then placed on the head. The grommets go between the bolt and the cover. Check the torque specs and make sure that is what you use. Don't over torque the bolts.

Make certain that you get as much oil off the top of the head where the valve cover gasket seals. This will help the seal to adhere to the metal and make for a leak free surface contact. Also, you may want to use some copper torque spray or a dab of silicone in all four corners and allong the center top and bottom. This will keep the gasket from falling off the valve cover as you go to wiggle it into place.

Well I got the front one done 45 minutes not to bad it seems to be fine and looks like no leaks so far. The back one? Where to start it is covered with everything in the engine so I am going to have to put some thought into this one. That might be my next adventure here soon or the shops? Don't know yet but it is getting better and then its time for some body shop action I do believe. I'll let you all know and thanks.

The rear one takes patience. Your plug wires come off the plugs. Fuel lines stay on. Strut tower bar comes off. A few other small things get removed or shifted. A little wiggle and jiggle, voila! I had both mine off painted and on in around three hours
