Has anyone ever heard of MELTED INJECTORS before?

First, I showed you all my blower'* imitation of Chernobyl (sp? ) after a bad tensioner+bad coupling+melted snout=ride home from work on tow truck. Refer to "Ever Seen This" further down the list of posts.

Now comes the blockbuster sequel I tore down the top of the engine, removed the fuel rail, and low and behold... all my injectors are exhibiting signs of turning into Kingsford briquets! One tip just fell apart, and the others arent healthy either.

What the Sam Hill Dickens is going on in this engine? HOW DO I MAKE IT STOP?!?!

Any help is greatly appreciated. Looks like I'm making my store sales look good tomorrow: I figure even with employee discount I will clear $300. worth of Borg Warner'* finest squirters!

OK, here'* my theory, FWIW. Since the injectors are up stream of the chambers and hence cooled by the intake air, it must have been caused by intake temps. That overheated bearing had to get god awful hot to melt the case like it did. That heat was probably transfered to the intake air which did the damage to the injectors. If my theory is correct, now I would be concerened about the rest of the components up stream of the injectors, and maybe to a lesser degree, the valves, but I suspect they are subjected to and can withstand much higher temps.

Your Valves may have some problems too.

I have a fuel rail with injectors if you're needing a set.

How'* your coolant levels? Does the radiator flow? Did you notice high coolant temps before this happened?

Otherwise, Ranger is probably right on the money. At this point, I'd be pulling the lower intake manifold. Replace everything from there up. Head gaskets are probably fine.

I discovered some of my injector tips were kinda melted a while back. I put different injectors in and my idle and MPG improved. I'm working on getting them new tips.
