Default rattle/no whine from */c

I have a '95 ssei w/ 165,000 miles on it. When it'* at idle you can hear the nose ratteling and no whine when you hit the throttle. I'm only getting 5lbs of boost. The airbox is gutted. How much boost should I be getting? Any ideas why I cant hear my */c? I know I should hear it.

The rattle is likely the coupler in the supercharger nosedrive.
As for whine...you have one of the worst airbox designs going in your year with many noise canceling herpes on the accordian tube leading to the throttle body.

Definitely sounds like the coupler. Not sure how readily available they are for your engine, but they usually come pretty cheap. Changing it involves draining the */c oil, taking the nose off, and replacing the coupler (should just slide off). Should look something like this: spare_coupler.jpg&t=1

So a non-groovy intake tube will make louder */C whine?
