Default Rattle Grind

I posted before about this problem thinking it was a heat sheild thing, but after getting under there with a rubber malet i wasnt able to find a rattle anywhere. Any other suggestions? It only does it when she heats up a bit. just before shifting it rattles (sounds like loose sheet metal) and it goes away shifts and then it makes kind of a grinding sound? When im experiencing these sounds i cant put it in N or P give alittle rev and it doesnt do it. Can I some how post the sounds? kinda like Willwren did with his supercharger whine?

Baron, you have to have the video posted to the net somewhere, then link to it.

Have you ever had a trans flush done? I didn't have any sounds, but it did wonders for me. Next time I do a flush, I'm gonna drop the pan and do the filter first, then go for the flush. No more slip for me.

Now I'm gonna scare you. Jseabert had the grind.....he lost 3rd gear a week later, and the resulting blast of metal particles took out his TC 2 days after that.

I had a similar problem once. I only really noticed the sound when things heated up and I was heavier on the gas. It turned out my catalytic converter was shot. You said you went underneath with a mallet? Did you try tapping the cat to see if anything rattled inside it?

It might not be the cat, but just one more thing you can rule out.

Damn good idea, Gordy. I had the same thing. Got so bad it was actually embarrasing. Good excuse for a performance cat, eh?

The tranny was rebuilt about 3 monthes ago, but about a month after i noticed white smoke coming out the exhaust, turned out the modulator valve? was bad and tranny fluid was being sucked into the intake, so the tranny was dry for about 4 days (nothing at all on the dip stick) brought it back theyy replaced the valve topped off the fluid and sent me on my way.
When I was under there with the mallet i did bang on the cat it seemed pretty solid along with the heat sheilds. But when im driving "normal" it makes the grind once I start drivin it a little harder it doesnt seem make the sound as bad.
When Jseabert'* went do you know if the car had to be warm for the grind to start?

You guys ROCK

No, his grinds even cold. Even in IDLE. His 3rd is SHOT. Your grind really still does sound exactly like my cat did. I thought my trans was going out, too.
