UIM Question - '96 LSS
I bought this car last January with 82,000 miles on it. Other than oil changes, this car has given me zero problems in 15,000 miles of driving. The UIM was changed prior to my purchase of the car - it'* got a 2006 date stamp on it. It still has the pink coolant in it and has not used a drop, so I guess it was an effective repair.
I'm looking for advice on what to do going forward. I did quite a bit of research on this site before I bought the car (used to have an '88 LE) and remember reading some technical articles and guidelines on this topic. Were the newer GM replacement intakes improved to address the EGR pipe issue?
Thanks,
Jim

Here is a link to a good replacment which addresses the EGR overheating problem. It'* unknown if this mod was done to the car prior to your purchase. I really wouldn't do anything until you start seeing signs of oil leaks or antifreeze giong away in your over flow bottle. But I would go ahead and flush the sytem and replace the antifreeze with something other than the DEX fluid.
