Story:

about a week ago the front right of the started making a grinding noise while I was driving and turning. It made a bunch of different tones of grinding. Me and a friend were thinking it was the CV joint. Fast forward to last night, I had to open for work. There was no grinding noise whatsoever. But. Now the brakes are acting up on me. I need to give it more pressure to stop her.

What to do...?

i would check to see if the right caliper was stuck to start...

Replace front brake pads and front rotors. If it has been grinding very much at all, the rotors are probably ready for the trash heap.

NO way I'm touching the brake system.

Its very easy to do actually.

Yes, its VERY easy.

You can then replace more things with higher quality parts for the same price as having 1 or 2 things done with inferior parts.

You probably will want to replace..

(2) Calipers ~$15 ea
(2) Rotors ~$20-100 ea
(1) Set of Pads ~$20-65
(2) Brake Lines ~$12-20 ea

Should only take about 30 minutes a side. Rather simple work once you get the hang of it.

the only issue that might be a problem for the novice home mechanic is bleeding the system after replacing calipers and hoses.

other than that brakes are simple
1. remove wheels (jack up and support the car on stands)
2. remove 2 bolts from calipers then slide up and towards the back
3. then remove outer pad and use large "C" clamp to compress piston back into caliper
4. put new pads on the caliper assembly and the new rotor on hub bearing assembly

simple as that for front brakes backs are easy as well they just have more components to them

I would tackle this issue if I had all the tools before. I wonder... I get paid this wednesday and the monday after this wednesday.

I might have the $$$ to purchase the parts. But I have to tools (no jack, no clamp, no stands)

Where do you find calipers for $15 bux? I'd kill for that deal.

When you say constant grinding and such, are you feeling any pull in one direction or the other while driving, perhaps if the tone of grinding changes?
