Default Grinding Sound When I Crank Steering Wheel to the Right

My 1997 Bonneville is making a very annoying grinding sound whenver I fully crank the steering wheel to the right. Trust me I get very funny looks if I crank it too hard and it does that. Any idea of what it could be? I am out of work and so I can't afford a mechanic, I am hoping it is something cheap and easy to fix...but know that it probably won't be!

Also I am having intermintent troubles with my Message Centre and my radio display. Sometimes they will go all goofy when I start the car. If the message centre lights up, the warning chime goes on and won't go away until it corrects by itself or I turn the car off. One night it chimed for over 20 minutes straight until I got to my destination!

Been a while since I have been here, so I am coming back for your help because you guys (and gals?) have been great before!

Could be a bad wheel bearing. Unfortunately, they will run you around $100 for a decent one, but you can install them yourself if you have the right tools. Just a question, what warning lights come on? Bad wheel hubs (wheel bearing) can often cause misc brake lights and ABS lights to come on.

sounds like the front steering plate bearing on top of the strut. Over time they get full of road debris and start to bind and make alot of noise while turning. Do you notice it alot at low speed when parking and such? and as far as the display no idea lol.

Check on your ground bus connections. There'* a write up in tech info about that. If these are corroded you will get problems with the dash.
