Default Squeeky ceramics

When I had my brakes done 5 years ago with new rotors and ceramic pads from Midas, they sqeeked a little at slow speed braking for almost a year. I put new rotors and ceramic pads on my wife'* GA a few months back, and they squeek the same way. I read instructions very carefully to make sure I didn't need any grease anywhere or anything like that.

I'm getting new brakes and I wanna do it right so they don't squeek. How can I do that?

On the back of a premium pad you will find a thin material. Looks like another thin plate of metal or something. That is there to keep them from squeaking. You can get some spray call disc brake quiet and apply a light coating to the back of the pads before installation.

I've honestly never heard of a squeaky cermanic though. Are you using a premium rotor with those?

Wagner...that sounds familiar..is that an offshoot of one of the larger companies..?

Maybe consider Raybestos or Bendix?

Did you use the lube between the caliper piston and pad back on either vehicle?

My Powerslots and Raybestos Quiet-Stop ceramics never sqeaked.

Bill...go get the coffee. Disc Brake Quet isn't technically a lube is is? My impression of it was a stick'em goop to keep things put.

I don't know what Midas did, but the instructions on the Wagners said I did not need any lubricants or anything else.

Tell the guy at the parts counter you need some "brake snot". He'll know what you mean. The stuff I have is red, and comes in a bottle kinda like Elmer'* Glue...

John, is your brake snot a lubricant for the pins and sliders? If so, it should not be applied to the backing of the pad.

The brake snot (disk brake goop) is a lubricant. Not a stickem, even though it gets tacky.

It'* sole purpose is to quiet the brakes. One trade-name is 'disk brake quiet'.
