On my '97 Bonnie. My gas guage has never read more than 1/2
full when it is full. Seems to only read when key is off. When
I start the car,the guage swings toward full then reads empty.
Is this the sending unit or electrical?

Sounds like the sending unit went out. When you key on, the gauge goes to full showing it'* working, then no signal.

Its a quick swing of the needle.Not all the way up,but in that direction

I second Dan'* diagnosis. You may have seen the video floating around on how to change a fuel sender on a 2000 Bonnie. Unfortunately, if I remember correctly, the fuel sender ('92-'99) is in the tank itself, so you may want to get a professional (or a lift) to help.

My gauges don't go left to right when I turn the car on, strangely. They just work (although my fuel gauge thinks it'* full at fourteen gallons, not sixteen). Can someone double-check that '97 SE gauges are supposed to sweep like that?
