Default Problems many minor annoying ones

95 SSEi 160K
1. When turning or going over bumps car squeaks the noise seems to be coming from somewhere i nthe frotn of the car what could that be?
2. There is a gas smell in my car recently idk what is causing this but idid notice that the floor heating vents stay on when they are set off so heat is constantly coming into my car through floor vents. There are tiems when i fiddle with the controls i can get it to stop what causes that to happen?
3.The buttons performance ride and touring ride can not be switched off i am not sure what they do exactly but it kinda bugs me that they can not be shut off.
4. There is no light out in the back of my car but the computer tells me there is.
5. The trunk release does nto work and thats one of the things i really want to fix does chilton'* repair manual explain how to fix the release?
6.Wheels...well i am assuming its the brakes squeak alot even when not applying brakes do i just need to apply soem of that anti-squeal rease stuff on the back of the pads?

All these minor problems make my car sound like a piece of crap but it runs great and is reliable and surprisingly doesn't eat oil at all whichIi think is good for that many miles on a 10 year old car.
ANy advice is appreciated thanks idk where i would be without this forum lol

1. It'* probably the hood latch. If you pop the hood, spray the crap out of the hood latch both on the radiator support and the hood with WD-40 and it goes away then that'* it. To actually fix the problem, you'll need to grease the assembly.
5. You'll need to get a new solenoid for you trunk release probably.
6. Are you sure you brakes have enough life left (pads/rotors?)

Could be struts or swaybar links. Try spraying WD-40 on one thing at a time, short drive, repeat until you find what stopped squeaking.

2. There is a gas smell in my car recently idk what is causing this but idid notice that the floor heating vents stay on when they are set off so heat is constantly coming into my car through floor vents. There are tiems when i fiddle with the controls i can get it to stop what causes that to happen?

Not sure about the gas smell. Do you have an exhaust leak? Poor mileage? Your vents sound like they're fine. Your ECC doesn't allow you to pick all modes. It decides where the air should go, in what it determines as the most efficient.

3.The buttons performance ride and touring ride can not be switched off i am not sure what they do exactly but it kinda bugs me that they can not be shut off.

Your CCR (computer command ride) has failed. It'* not worth of being repaired with CCR struts. And these could be your squeakers, too. There'* an article in Techinfo for retrieving codes, but most people here just write off the system due to the cost of CCR struts.

4. There is no light out in the back of my car but the computer tells me there is.
Which light does it say is out? Tails? Your license lights (2 of them) are also on that circuit. If that'* no the problem, remove and clean all taillight bulbs, clean the bases of the bulbs and the sockets, and re-install them. Don't forget the little dinky bulbs (194'*?).

5. The trunk release does nto work and thats one of the things i really want to fix does chilton'* repair manual explain how to fix the release?

Yes, but maybe not the electric release. Open the trunk and hit the button on your remote or the switch. Do you hear it trying to release? If so, it'* a mechanical mis-alignment causing it to bind. If you don't hear the trunk trying to release, do you hear the relay under the passenger side of the dash clicking? We need to know this.

6.Wheels...well i am assuming its the brakes squeak alot even when not applying brakes do i just need to apply soem of that anti-squeal rease stuff on the back of the pads?

Perhaps. Many people fail to put this on when doing their own brake job. Could also be cheap pads, or your pads are worn to the point that the squeaker device is beginning to hit the rotor.

One of the bulbs in the third brake light (on your rear parcel shelf) is out. Have somebody press on the brakes while you stand behind the car. You have to crawl into the trunk to replace the bulb...

1. Is there anything i can damage or shouldn't be sparayed with WD-40 other than the brakes? Im goign to try to spray the hood support and the struts and swaybars. Where are the swaybars located?
2.I checled exhaust and there doesn;t seem to be a leak and no puddles of gas are present when my car sits in driveway. Could the gas smell be coming from a vacum hose because there is a broken hose leading to the vacum canister and i think it may lead to the gas tank. I have been getting very poor mileage lately seems like 9 mpg.
3. There are 3 wires that go to the top of the right front wheel well when u take off the plastic cover those wires are broken off what do they do?
4.Says tail lights and when i didthe brake thing all the lights are on i can/t see any that are out i havetn even thoguht about license plate lights though i will check that today.
5.When i try to open trunk with remote i hear the clicking near the passenger side and the door releae buttondoesn;t do anything so i would be happy with the remote release what does it mena when you hear a clicking noise?
6. I will be buying new pads and sparkplugs soon so i will make sure to grease them up good

Incorrect. There'* only ONE bulb in the 3rd (high mount) brake light on a 95, and it clearly tells you if this light is out.

No. WD-40 isn't really a lubricant. It'* a Water Displacer, hence the name. No electrical problems, stay away from the brakes. Swaybars are attached to the rear of each hub by an andlink with bushings. Travels all the way across the bottom of the car, also attached by bushings to the frame.

Your evap canister could very well be the problem. Or a leak at the FPR. Pull the vacuum hose off the FPR after driving, and see if it leaks fuel. Consider changing your O2 sensor.

3. There are 3 wires that go to the top of the right front wheel well when u take off the plastic cover those wires are broken off what do they do?

We need a better description or a picture. If they're broken, they're not your TC problem, or the light would remain on all the time.

4.Says tail lights and when i didthe brake thing all the lights are on i can/t see any that are out i havetn even thoguht about license plate lights though i will check that today.

Taillights are NOT brake lights. Taillights are on with parking lights or headlights. Check to make sure all the little dinky bulbs in the tails and trunk lid are ok, and verify BOTH licensce plate lights.

5.When i try to open trunk with remote i hear the clicking near the passenger side and the door releae buttondoesn;t do anything so i would be happy with the remote release what does it mena when you hear a clicking noise?

That'* the relay. Works fine. Now try it with the trunk already OPEN. Do you hear the solonoid in the trunk lid pulling?

6. I will be buying new pads and sparkplugs soon so i will make sure to grease them up good

Don't over-do it with the lube. And let it dry for 30 minutes before installing the pads. Make sure you clean the caliper piston face well.

On the tail lights....my manual says that if it tells you a bulb is out. Once you replace it, you must use the bulbs (both sides if blinker) before the light will go out. There'* another bulb somewhere. If you can tell me where they all are that you've checked I'll look at mine (95 SSEi) and try to verify.

Truck latch...follow the posts..they are on the money.

Squeaks over bumps and turns. GM had technical bulletins on nearly all early/mid 90'* vehicles about how over time the sway bar bushings (a u shaped bracket with rubber in it, holding the bar to frame) will stick and freeze to the sway bar causing a squeal/squeak over bumps. The fix was to take off the u bracket and the rubber bushing, wrap some teflon tape around the bar and reinstall.

On the brakes..also clean and lubricate the caliper slides (front only). This will make your brakes last a little longer and not bind up.
