Problem starting when damp
i've got a 97 bonneville SE, and when its damp out, or raining sometimes it takes up to 10 mins to start, it cranks but wont fully turn over and then all of a sudden it just does. Does anyone know about issues similar to this?

I had a similar problem one time, the night before i had been driving in heavy road spray on the highway, if you keep cranking you are just flooding the engine
what worked for me (after i had flooded the engine) was to hold the gas pedal to the floor while cranking which will disable the injectors and she finally started up

Something you want to do is clean up the engine bay. Clean off the plug wires real good and make sure there'* no oil on the wires and they are not touching ground. Clean up the coils real good. If it'* damp and there'* oil or grease on them they can spark to ground causing a weak spark.

Holy cow i g2g try that out.. during the summer my injectors leak internally while parked and has a tough time starting (cranks perfectly fine) but kicks and buckles for few seconds as the few chambers burn off the flooded cylinders.

haaa read a review ....
*** GMs have this thing called "Clear flood mode". You might be doing that when you pump the gas pedal. To put it into clear flood mode you push the gas pedal all the way down and crank the engine. The PCM will disable the fuel injector.***
awesome!

DAVE905 hows your oil pressure on your bonny? just curious because you got over 400,000km on it.
mine twitches very close to the red mark. I added thicker oil (10w40) plus lucas addictive it came up few PSI , so its like 3mm above the red mark when the motor is hot now.
