i noticed yesterday that both lights on the perform ride / touring ride are both lit up instead of one or the other. is this trying to tell me something?

it is telling you it is not seeing a normal response from 1 or more of the ccr struts.
Someone with a 94 fsm can tell you what jumper to put on the adl connector , and it will tell you which strut is causing the error.
A first step would be to check the connectors on all the struts

Do we happen to know anyone with a factory service manual for a '94? I need to check those as well, both lights are on with my '94 as well. But we know the pump now works and everything seems to work, except for those buttons.

I have a '94 FSM. I'll see if I can find the info you need and post it later this afternoon.

Now that we have the Administrative stuff out of the way, let'* clear the air.

The PUMP has nothing to do with your ride control (CCR) buttons on the console. It'* a totally different and unrelated system. Rear leveling (ELC) or Electronic Level Control uses traditional rear struts WITH air assist in addition, through the use of a level sensor and pump/valve. This also adds spring rate and is a calculated component of FE2 Performance suspension. ELC (in Pontiacs) also adds the trunk inflator as a part of this system.

It has NOTHING to do with CCR. CCR uses a two-position valve in each strut to control damping rate as determined by the mode you select on your console. 99% of the time, if you have both lights on, you have a bad strut, which is HORRIBLY expensive to replace, if even available any longer. The best (and most common) course of action is to replace your struts when the 'time' comes (or suits you) with traditional performance struts up front, and performance rear (ELC) struts.

Monroe Sensatrac is strongly suggested.
