So cancer got my '93, bearing got my '96.
I would like to avoid putting the sc top on the 93 SE motor. 270,000 on my SE. So, pitfalls of landing the complete L37 into the '96 seem, according to what I have read and have been told are too big to overcome. I saw, but have been unable to find again, two links referring to removal and install of motors. Sure 'preciate the heads up on the trans bolt removal with the loooong extention. Thanks.

Are you looking for how to remove the engine? It'* easy. The bolt your referring to is the backwards trans bolt. A real pain. But I will tell you how. Remove the passenger tire, you will see the differential cover where the axle connects. Above that there is a bracket, 2 13mm bolts holding it to the diff cover, and 2 more 13mm bolts holding it to the engine block. Remove this bracket. Once it'* gone, the backwards bolt is right there. Use a bunch of extensions and your set. If you have a impact wrench, it will come right off. The rest is easy. 4 more 18mm bolts holding the trans to engine, 3 18mm bolts holding the flex plate to the torque converter. And the engine mount. I found that if you disconnect the hood hold up rams and then open the hood nearly straight up, wire it to the ceiling or something. That provides enough room to lift the engine out.

Hey Danthurs, the event I wanted to refind was something referring to start to finish removal of motor and start to finish install. Someone had posted two links to complete instructions. When I find and refresh a new motor, I will want to jump into it. Sounds to me like I can sell for parts the '93 SE. Thanks

Hey Dan, yes it does, tremendously. The Bonneville is such a great car that I am willing to do ANYTHING to continue driving them. Even learning to switch out a motor. Or as I have been known to sa " if you ain't learnin', you ain't livin'. 'Preciate you and the others who have been helping me.
