Rear Brake Proportioner Valves.
I have one proportioner valve that is constantly wet. Not losing significant amounts of fluid as near as I can tell, but always wet. Tried tightening the brake lines to it, but doesn't seem to help.
Thinking about trying to replace it. Is there any reason to get both to stay matched???
What are my chances of replacing them and still get a good seal to the brake lines, or would I have to rebuild the lines' flares?
If I replace those valves, can I avoid have to re-bleed?
Another topic:
Is there a quick test to distinquish between brake fliuid and other oil ( such as any of: motor, transmission, or steering)?

You need to replace both! Yes, because the pressure coming from the new one in the system will force out the old one. Yes, you will need to re-bleed your brakes because when you open a brake system air enters the lines.

Dealer-only item, NAPA tells me, and thus over 50 bucks Canadian per each , so I think it is going to be one for now until I see some really good reason to get both.
I tried the baby-powder trick to try to see where the leak is and it worked great. Definitely from the valve between its brass nut and the steel barrel, and not at the brake-line connection.
