Default Engine/trans swap questions

Going another route on my project....

I found a shop around me that can do a complete motor/trans swap for 800, out the door. The donor is from a 95 SSEi (minus the */c, which mine will take its place). The engine I know shouldn't be a problem, but after PMing jrs3800 he told me the transmission electronics may be different than the 93. So, if anyone has the pinouts for the 95 trans or has any other input on this swap let me know!

I'm the other 'we'.

We had alot of books out. The major difference is that the 92/93 PCM has no limp mode based on trans temp. The trans simply shuts of TC to control trans and brake temps when the trans reaches 320°F. It uses a thermiSTOR to do this.

94/95 reports the temp back by means of a thermoCOUPLE to the PCM which manages things.

Still got some more digging to do to verify that other topic, but Don and I both felt it would be good to get Bill Buttermore back in here.

Wow...this got stickyfied! I have the 93 FSMs and was looking at the pinouts last night at the trans. I was surprised to get an offer on the entire swap for that price, so I am hoping that everything will work right.

The trans simply shuts of TC to control trans and brake temps when the trans reaches 320°F. It uses a thermiSTOR to do this.
My trans was doing this when I was driving, er, limping it, to my home. I have yet to tear the trans pan off of it to see if there are any metal chunks lying at the bottom(been focusing on the engine first). T/C off light would come on and stay on regardless of T/C switch cycling. I know the fluid is well beyond service life and was hoping that once the engine was running right I could flush the whole thing, change the filter, and add a new vac modulator.

Don, I compared the 92 pinout to the 93 and it'* the same. So IF i go with the trans swap too, I am going to have to repin BEFORE they get it, because they won't.

Don and I verified the pinout on the 92 and 93 last night as well. They are the same, but there are mechanical differences between them in the valvebody.

One more thought from last nights conversation with Don:

We discovered that the Thermistor in the 93 trans is not located in the same place as the thermocouple in the 95 trans. The 95 has it located in the 'splash zone' which is probably why Mortehl never entered limp mode. The pump failed, so no fluid was splashing on the TC.

In the case of the 93, the thermistor is located on the valvebody itself. I've seen this personally during my rebuild. You MAY want to simply take all or part of your wiring harness and your thermistor from the 93 and move them over to the 95 trans.

That'* an idea, but wouldn't I also have to swap valve bodies since the thermistor resides there (in the 93), and didn't you mention that the internals of the 95 were different? (I am guessing they are different because of the thermocouple but maybe there are other subtle diffs too) It may be just as easy for the swap guys to just leave the 93 in place and only do the engine, then later on have the trans profesionally done somewhere. For all I know, the trans i have now may still be good with exception of service parts needing replacement, but I can't verify this w/o a properly running engine.

On that subject, I know the EGR system is different, but is there any other system that I should know about that is different from 93? The shop ALSO has the */c WITH the T/B but Bill, like you said before, the 93 PCM may not like that setup too much.
