Default Lost cruise control

I was driving along yesterday and my cruise just stopped working.
It won't do anything.
How do you test the cruise control?
Thanks doo700

You need to retrieve the codes from the PCM. There are several cruise control codes.

update:

I replaced my actuator with a known good cruise control actuator.
Made no difference. I did not loose cruise control all together. The cruise can maintain on level ground but if you encounter a moderate to steep hill it kicks out and will not reset till you shut the car off for a while. Any idea what I'm looking at here?
Thanks

Have you checked the vacuum lines going to/from the actuator? One might have split and that'* why the cruise won't work.
